The garage etc

Waiting for the logs.... so we began with the garage wall. The view is unparalleled.

The inside of the flat. (directly under the garage slab.)
We decided to finish the walls off with scree-ding in a natural beige color. This gives the place a real 'Rondawel' feel to it.
We placed blue-gum lintel beams over the double doors going out to the patio.

                                                                              From the outside looking in.

Finally, the last logs were picked up in Hermanus.

Our logs came from this stand of trees. beautiful, right?

Here are the last 45 logs offloaded on to our garage floor.

All the while, the garage wall was going on.

Here is a picture (taken with a zoom lens) of our house from across the the valley.

Roy Trembath advised us that we change from the white 'Isotherm' to the original 'Think pink' for insulation - which we did.
It definitely is more dense. Thanks, Roy!

After the 'think pink' is stuffed into the spaces between the logs, and nailed in every 50cm.... It's plastered over. This is called chinking.

Gives one an idea of what the finished product will look like.
                                                                    Stunning!
