The last wall log!
The last wall log is being moved into place.
(They've picked it up from the pile of logs on the left of the picture... but the thin end is at the wrong place and needs to be swung right around to face the other way.)
They're swinging the log around
Darryl is climbing higher and higher...
They have to adjust the pulleys and straps further down the log.
.... and then Robin starts to pull the log around from the far side.
It's now pointing in the right direction, but has to be pulled into position.
Practically in place.
...... except for a little end bit that has to be chain-sawed off.
At last!
The final wall log is fitted!
Now the guys have to hammer the re-bar in to hold the log in place.
Meanwhile, inside the flat, the door frames are being varnished.
The holes for the toilet pipes are being made...
Darryl chooses between which sealant to use for the store room floor...
And I'm sealing the floorboards!
John has begun on the outside wall with the plastering over the think-pink.
Now that the final log is in, (at the top of the wall) the think-pinking is going at full force.
Now Darryl starts with putting in the first of the four upright internal logs. These are primarily for structural strength. He's chosen one with lots of character and it looks stunning.
This log gets bolted into the wall with 20 mm galvanized threaded bar with lock nuts every 2 log layers.
For this job, we had to lengthen a 20 mm wood auger bit by 60 cm in order to drill through both logs at once.
