Upright poles and second floor

The uprights!

The four upright logs were moved into place (These are the upright logs that are NOT in the corners.)
These will hold up the roof structure. (The corner logs - or lifting logs with the blue pulleys fixed onto them - will eventually come out after they've done their job of lifting all our poles into place.)

Once the upright logs were positioned and strapped, they were bolted into place - using galvanized threaded bar - after drilling a serious hole using a specially lengthened 20 mm auger drill bit.

... Then a four pound hammer to hit the threaded bar home.

Timo is tightening the bolts on the outside of the house, which pulls the upright pole (on the inside)to the wall - then cuts off the excess threaded bar.

The second floor support logs.

We positioned the next three logs for moving.
These next logs will become the second story/loft main support floor logs.

Darryl cut a block out of the wall then the first log was lowered....

.... and maneuvered into place.

It got complicated when Darryl had to use the chain-saw  upside down.

But it worked!

We had to roll the log in mid-air to make sure the flat side was on top as the floor joists would have to lie on it... and we don't want a crooked floor!

The second floor pole comes down...

We anchor it on the floor beam so Darryl can cut the block out of the wall again.

We check that the two logs are level... which they are!

All three floor logs in and ready!

The flat progress...

Meanwhile, the glass was fitted into the window frames in the flat.

Darryl did the plumbing and wiring for the store room which will double as my laundry room.

The front door of the flat without glass...

.... and with glass.

The center log.

Eventually, after two and a half hours, the center log which will hold up the ridge pole - was strapped into place. A HUGE feat!

Chinking/plastering

Stephan has learned how to do the plastering over the think-pink.

And a side view so far!
