The house floor
The house floor starts going down.
We're using red gum so the floor has a pinkish tinge to it.
A bit more flooring...
Just short of half way!!!
Three quarters done!
The guys average about 9 rows of planks per day except around the pillars where the going is a lot slower because each plank has to be shaped to perfection.
(Steven and Timo have done an excellent job.)
The loft
We hired an industrial sander which Blessing and I shared - then Darryl and I sanded the areas around the pillars and also the wall edges with an orbital sander.
It gets dusty!
Darryl covered the gap between the wall and the logs with a shelf using old melamine counter tops from his office.
In between jobs, Precious and Blessing finished the reed work underneath the house, partitioning off the JoJo's.
We have 2 logs waiting to be used as a stair case leading from a trap door in the house floor, down under the house to the garden.
These logs had to be moved with a block and tackle so that the floor planks could be laid down. (We'll cut the trap door out once the floor is finished.)
Darryl started to build the dry wall structures upstairs.
The toilet first....
.....Then the study alcove.
Then the dry wall was paneled on one side ...
The paneling has to be cut to fit the shape of the logs...
All the paneling will eventually be covered with cretestone.
The bathroom area....
Now the electrics and plumbing will get put into the dry wall and the wiring of the lights as well.
That will be this next week's job!!!
