October 2018

The balcony (16 meters by 3 meters) is finally finished.
(The endless cutting, planning and shaping was all done by Precious.......

and the sealing of planks - by Blessing.)

Timo did the fitting and spacing of the planks.

He did a final coat of sealant.....

...and Darryl trimmed off the planks at the ends....
and it's all done bar the railing.

The shower

We put down the Uni-board in the shower/bath area and built a small brick wall.

John, the plasterer, put in the shower floor.

I put in the finishing touches with some stones we collected from the beach...
I
we sealed it...

Stunning.

Darryl and Wayne then built the frame for the shower glass.

The toilet

Darryl had to chain saw a hole through the log wall to get the toilet and water pipes outside.

Cleaning and fixing the second hand toilet we bought ....

The basin

Darryl welded a frame for the bathroom basin counter.

We had bought a second hand piece of marble for the counter top.
Using a diamond tipped drill bit, Darryl drilled a hole for the basin out-let pipe.

The last part of the ramp.

All done bar the railing.

Odds and ends

I mosaic-ed a piece of wall that needed covering up.

Darryl made blue gum, routed, U-shaped cappings for the top of the dry walls upstairs.

And I varnished the ENTIRE upstairs floor three times using Woodock 25.

Downstairs .....

The sanding of the floor has begun.

Darryl put in the guest bathroom's water pipes.

Wayne and Steven began to build the bathroom dry wall.
First the frame..

... then cutting and screwing on the Uni-board...
...then Darryl put in the various pipes and electrics into the space between the walls...
Almost done!

This is one of our nightly visitors below our balcony.
We've named him Nungu...which means 'porcupine' in Swahili.
