October into November
The stairs
360 degree steps around the stair tree between our living area and our bedroom in the loft.
A program was used from the internet to calculate sizes and shapes. Each step was manufactured from mild steel with a base plate that allowed a railway sleeper coach bolt to be the main anchoring device. Three other 10mm coach bolts were used per step for stabilizing and angling.
Each step's position had to be ground flat out the tree.
The wooden step treads were bluegum, tounge-and-grooved, four pieces per step then cut, shaped and sanded.
A jig was made that when clamped on a step, allowed the step above to be positioned at the perfect height.
Sanding the floor.
Varnishing - using 3 coats of Woodock 25.
Without Woodock 25... WITH Woodock 25. (Three coats later.)
The balcony.
Wayne and Timo fixing the balcony railing.
Still a lot of work to be done - like shaping, varnishing and additional rails for safety.
The guest bathroom was enclosed with uniboard.
John and Steve are crete-stoning the bathroom.
Fencing
We cleared the pavement area and did a lot of trips to the dump!
Fence poles are in and 'latte' delivered.
That's next week's job.
The entrance garden.
